Purchasing a product

Before buying an item on the marketplace, ensure you have the following set up:
  1. To get detailed information about the Galileo Marketplace, follow this Getting to know the Galileo Marketplace article
  2. Sign up and create an account with the Galileo Marketplace. If you haven't done this yet, visit this Creating an account on Galileo Marketplace guide to get started.
  3. Complete the Know Your Customer (KYC) process. If you haven't initiated this step, visit this Completing your KYC on Galileo Marketplace guide to get started.
  4. Ensure you have MATIC tokens in your wallet to cover the transaction fees. If you don't have any, you can buy MATIC on a centralized exchange like Coinbase.
  5. Have USDC on the Polygon network to purchase products, as the products listed in the marketplace are priced in USDC. You can buy USDC on Coinbase or use a decentralized exchange like Uniswap to acquire USDC on the Polygon network.
  6. Adding your shipping address beforehand allows for a smoother and quicker purchase process. View this Adding addresses for shipping guide for setting this up.

Once the pre-requisites are set, follow these steps to begin your buying journey on the Galileo Marketplace:

  1. Login and Connect Wallet:

  2. Select Item:

    • Click on the item you wish to buy.

  3. Review Item Details:

    • Confirm the details of the item by reviewing the specifications, descriptions and media files.

    • Adjust the quantity of the products as desired, and available in stock.

  4. Initiate Purchase:

    • Click on the "Buy & Redeem" button to proceed to the checkout screen.
  5. Select Shipping Address:

    • Choose a shipping address from your saved addresses.

    • You also have the option to "Add a new address" for shipping.

  6. Review Costs:

    • Once you select the shipping address, the tax and shipping details will be displayed.

    • Ensure you have enough USDC to cover the total cost before proceeding.
  7. Confirm Purchase:

    • Click on "Confirm Order"
    • You will be prompted with an approval transaction for USDC. For a smoother future experience, we try to get approval for a higher amount of tokens so that you won't need to approve transactions for future purchases. You can either approve this higher amount or choose to approve the exact total amount required for the current purchase.

    • Note: You cannot approve less than the total amount required for purchase.
  8. Complete Transactions:

    • After approving the USDC transaction, confirm the purchase transaction in the MetaMask popup.
    • Wait for the transaction to complete.
  9. Order Confirmation:

    • Upon successful transaction, a success message will be displayed.
  10. View Order Details:

    • Navigate to the "My Activity" section to view the order you just placed.

    • Click on "View details" for further information.

  11. Order Processing:

    • The seller will process the order and update the status within 48 hours.
    • You can view the order status updates in the "My Activity" section.

    • Order status updates will also be sent to your registered email.

By following these steps, you can efficiently purchase items on the Galileo Marketplace and track your order status seamlessly.
